April Challenge

This month's experiment was to use the original scan of the challenge fabric and blow up a section, print out onto cardstock, and zentangle a design. The original fabric was faded out several times to enable a light enough background image upon which to draw. This was then rescanned into the computer after the zentangle was drawn, darkened back to its original saturation, and printed out onto fabric poster style. The four pieces of fabric were pieced together, and the printed design was then thread painted with 50 weight black cotton. Everything was machine stitched except the french knots which were hand sewn. The edges were faced. The most interesting part of this experiment was the color rendition the printer read for the original fabric's colors.

  1. Linda, This piece is so fascinating and fluid. You really do a great job combining the work of the hand with the highly technical. I think I have to come back to Columbus to see your pieces in person! Susan

  2. This looks great Linda! I almost think I see a picture in it -- reminds me of a lantern fish. Very neat idea. I can see you "working this out" !

  3. Linda I think the remix of the challenge material brings it to life. The stitching makes it come alive. You are using the movement of the material with your stitch to glide and embrace the flow.

  4. Linda, I think this looks fabulous and soooo coollll!! I really want to see it in person. The photo, even the blow up just does not do it justice. I will look forward to seeing in person.
