February Zentangles I

This month's colorway change is a pastel version of spring green, pink, and turquoise blue. This is a colorway I never use, therein lies my attempt to stretch my boundaries. The design of the piece is based on the Zentangles I am working on in paper and pen. The idea of using doodling designs in pen and paper I tried to carry over into the stitch doodlings on my multicolor stitch designs. The black and white fabric also carried through the same idea with the clamshell pattern--one that I use alot in the pen drawings. The other batik fabric was used because it was a darker version of the PSE'ed challenge colorway. I actually stitched each section as I would doodle a Zentangle. I ended up beading the batik because I quilted it in small clamshells that I thought looked boring. I am not at all sure that I like the piece--the colors are not "my" colors, but it is an attempt to stretch beyond my favorites and my comfort zone.

  1. Very, very interesting. I knew what you said you were going to do, but the execution is so much different than how I saw it (I'm guessing it's pretty much what you had in mind). I'm drawn to this piece though I can't say why for sure. Definitely not your typical colors. Very nice stitching (as always)and I like the PSE color this month.

  2. Some times we just have to color out side the box. I think that is was you have done. Different from your norm but very refreshing to look at. You always have a surprise up your sleeve. Thank you always for your help!
