Here is May! Structures 5: Seven Belles
The challenge fabric appears on the farther left and farthest right chimneys. I've been working on this one for a long time (how can these tiny pieces take so long?). The design is taken from a photograph I took of the Chateau Chenonceaux in France. I've cropped and cropped and cropped the building, and then stretched the lines to fit the rectangle.
The Chateau was built over a few hundred years and the design was influenced by seven different women. The nickname is "The House of the Seven Ladies" -- where I took my name for the piece.

Oh my gosh! I love this piece! It's really serendipitous because one of the monthly challenges for our local contemporary group was houses and I was thinking of doing something very similar but hadn't get gotten to it.
ReplyDeleteI really like this piece. Everything just fits together on it. My favorite part is the big brown hand dye print that makes up a huge part of the background building. I am not sure why--it just gives a very neat texture to the whole thing.I think it makes the scene look like a very serene day in winter--with snowflakes dancing around the building.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe we both turned these in before the end of the month. I think they take so long because it takes me over half the month just thinking up an idea.I am glad that I won't have that problem for the rest of this year.I feel like I should go back and redo Jan. through March pieces now that I know what direction I want my series to take. You seem to take a straight arrow in your themes each time we do a challenge. I feel like I have to clear away cobwebs before I get a clear view.
